1. Educational purpose
The information on this website is provided for general education about remote consultation as a clinical service. It is not a substitute for a personal assessment, examination, and plan made by a qualified physician.
2. A remote opinion is not a diagnosis
A remote consultation produces an informed clinical opinion based on your account and the images you send. It is not a diagnosis. A diagnosis is the conclusion of an examination — seeing the skin under proper light, feeling its texture and thickness, testing how tissue moves, and where necessary ordering imaging or a tissue sample. None of that is available through a screen.
3. Images can mislead in both directions
Photographs are affected by lighting, angle, colour reproduction and the position of any scale reference. An image can make a harmless finding look concerning, and a concerning finding look harmless. Depth, texture, laxity and true size cannot be judged reliably from a photograph, and a clinician can only work with what reaches them.
4. What cannot be assessed remotely
Measurement, depth, texture, laxity and surgical planning cannot be assessed without an examination. It is a normal and correct outcome of a remote consultation to conclude that the images are not adequate to answer the question, and that an in-person assessment is required.
5. No guaranteed outcomes
Results vary from person to person. No treatment, and no combination of treatments, can be guaranteed. A remote consultation should reduce uncertainty; it should never create false confidence, and nothing on this site should be read as a promise about any outcome.
6. A remote consultation must never delay urgent care
If you have difficulty breathing, chest pain, a sudden change in vision, severe pain out of proportion to what is visible, skin turning white, grey, mottled or dusky, a lesion that is growing rapidly or bleeding, or a wound that is not healing, end the remote consultation and seek in-person or emergency care immediately. Do not wait for a scheduled appointment.
